Nursing Institutes form a cooperation network

   
 November 20-24, 2018 – Faculty of Nursing held The 9th International Nursing Student Forum (INSF 2018) on Heath Literacy: A Key to Sustainable Development Goal of Population Health at iAvani Hotel and Convention Center, Khon Kaen. The opening ceremony, which was scheduled on November 23 was presided over by Asst. Prof. Dr. Saowamas Khunlan Thueannadee, Dean of Faculty of Nursing of Khon Kaen University and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uamporn Thongkrajai, former Dean of Faculty of Nursing of Khon Kaen University who initiated the International Nursing Student Forum at KKU. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somjit Danseekaew, Dean of Faculty of Nursing of Mahasarakham University as a network institute hosting the forum and Mr. Kanisorn Runsinyo, President of Faculty of Nursing Student Union conveyed the reporting speech and led the balloon releasing to open the forum followed by representatives of all institutes holding hands as a symbol for sustainable cooperation.

      Asst. Prof. Dr. Saowamas Khunlan Thueannadee, Dean of Faculty of Nursing of Khon Kaen University said that Faculty of Nursing of Khon Kaen University is aware of the importance of students’ learning development. The establishment of a cooperation network among national and international nursing institute, publicizing bodies of knowledge at an international level and learning and sharing of nursing with international institutes will sustainably support health development of people and serve the diversified societies in order to build excellence in caring various patients. This was the background behind The 9thInternational Nursing Student Forum (INSF 2018). The objectives were to prepare nurses who are cognizant of the changes and possess knowledge, skills, experiences and creativity in developing innovations of health among the diversities of the world population; to increase nursing students to communicate through the exchange of experiences and bodies of knowledge of other participants who are from diversified cultures, thus leading to the strength of the academic network; and finally to enhance and develop students’ potential towards internationalism.

     Participants, totaling over 250, were professors and nursing students from over 10 national leading institutions that offer professional nursing program. There were also nursing students from China, Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Australia.

    The Forum was honored to have experts in nursing from the country and overseas who gave special talks and presented their research work. For example, “Health and Health Literacy in the SDG” by Dr. Margaret Anne Harris from School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Newcastle, Australia; “Health Literacy: Definition, Attributes & Strategies” by Assoc. Prof. Yu Chui Huang from Fu Jen Catholic University, Taiwan; and “Health Literacy Media” by Asst. Prof. Dr. Dolwiwat Saensom from Faculty of Nursing of Khon Kaen University. The event also featured oral presentation and poster presentation sessions, which accounted for well over 120 topics. Other sessions included training workshop on cases of  emergency and disasters, discussions on various health topics for diversified population and the underprivileged, and exchanges of cultures among participants.
